Pukapuka Wairua / Books on Prescription

Books on Prescription - Pukapuka Wairua is a programme run by WellSouth Primary Health Network and libraries in Otago and Southland. The programme aims to increase access to high quality health information in these areas. You can find these books here in the catalogue.

There are 3 strands of the programme:

Read Yourself Well: Self-help reading has been proven to help manage a wide range of health problems. Books in the programme are available from your local library. The collection includes books suitable for children, young people and adults and cover a range of topics from the areas of health, mental health and lifestyle. See the catalogue for a list of titles, or enquire at your local branch. These books may be useful on their own, or in conjunction with other options such as talking therapies and/or medication if appropriate.

Listen Yourself Well: If you prefer to listen, some audio-books are available to borrow from our libraries. Podcasts and videos are available on the Books on Prescription website, and Listen Yourself Well is supported by Otago Access Radio 105.4FM (www.oar.org.nz) and Radio Southland 96.4FM (www.radiosouthland.org.nz).

T’App Yourself Well: Smartphone apps are another useful tool to help understand and manage a health problem. The apps are available on the Books on Prescription website and are reviewed in partnership with Health Navigator.
