If you’re planning on visiting our wonderful Wānaka Library soon, don’t be alarmed when you see the construction work! We are completing some remedial work on the building's roof.
None of this will affect our normal services (under the Level 2 requirements) at the Library, but please note that parking at the library will be unavailable during this time to allow work to be completed safely. There will also be periods where it may be noisy in the library. Work is set to start the week of 18 October 2021 and will be carried out over a 10 week period.
Although the library will remain open during this time, we have a few convenient alternatives for you, check them out below:
From Wednesday 20 October we will be running a PopUp library to provide you with an alternative option for borrowing and returning library items. The PopUp library will be open Monday to Friday between 10am and 4pm in the Te Tari Room at the Wānaka Recreation Centre (41 Sir Tim Wallis Drive). There's plenty of parking and keep an eye out for the flags when you arrive at the Recreation Centre to find the PopUp library.
If you aren't already aware of our MyBookBag service, now's the perfect time to make use of this great option! We have a 'Click and Collect' option which might be handy given the possible noise disturbances from construction and Wānaka also offers a free home delivery service for people who have mobility, transport or health problems, long or short-term, which makes accessing the library difficult. You can order books from the comfort of home and depending on the option you choose a friendly librarian will have them ready to pick up at the library or will drop them off for you! To find out more, or to order a book bag, check out more information about this service here.
We apologise for any inconvenience and thank you for your patience.
