National Simultaneous Storytime

Alexandra, Cromwell, Maniototo and Roxburgh Libraries are excited to be joining libraries from across from New Zealand and Australia on May 22 at 11 am as we celebrate National Simultaneous Storytime 2019. Over 1,000,000 kids took part in the 2018 event - and we want more!

National Simultaneous Storytime is supported by LIANZA (the Library and Information Association of New Zealand Aotearoa), our Australian counterparts and publisher Scholastic, to promote love of reading and books along with storytime activities in your local public library.

The book selected this year is really fun - "Alpacas with Maracas" by Matt Cosgrove - we'll be reading it to the children in our libraries at the same time as it is being read to many thousands of other children!

Here's a wee taste of what it's about:

Macca and his pal Al are the best of friends and love spending time together. When there is an opportunity to enter a talent contest, they just can’t resist.

But what will their act be? Will they shimmy and shake? Dance and prance? Whatever they choose, it will surely be a performance to remember!

Details are on our "What's On" page, where you'll find lots of other activities from our libraries right across Central Otago and Queenstown Lakes.
