The libraries are super excited that Laura Shallcrass, artist extraordinaire, will be joining us to read from her debut book, “Hare and Ruru”. Known for her beautiful botanical and nature themed pieces, her first published book follows suit with each page worthy of being framed and hung.
In Hare and Ruru, the reader follows Hare in search of peace and quiet, but learns along with the way, that Hare is seeking a different kind of quiet. The message is as beautiful as the book and broaches the subject of mental health in a subtle and approachable way. This book also offers tips and strategies perfect for young ones (and oldies) in search of mental peace.
Written in English and te Reo, this gorgeous book has been passed around the librarians, who all, not-so-secretly, have been hinting about what a great gift it would make. As Christmas is coming up, I wholeheartedly agree... hint hint. :0)
We are so happy that Laura will be reading at the Frankton, Wanaka and Queenstown Libraries. This event is free to attend, but please rsvp if you are bringing a group.
I hope to see you then!
