  • Enter as many entry cards as you like, and
  • There's a bonus prize up-for-grabs for the top reader across the district!

How do I participate?

There are multiple ways to join the challenge:

  • Pick up a challenge card from your local QLDC library branch;
  • Sign up via our Beanstack page here and select the 'Read Beyond the Beaten Path' challenge; or
  • Download a challenge card here.

Happy Reading!!

Challenge Terms and Conditions:

General:

  • The challenge begins on 1 December 2022 and ends on 1 February 2023.
  • The challenge is open to Queenstown Lakes library members from Grade 1 up to Grade 8. We have a teen reading challenge for Grade 9 and up here.
  • To be considered for the voucher draws, you must read five books from individual genres; if you read two books about nature, this will only count as one book.
  • Books means: hard-copy books, eBooks, and eAudiobooks.
  • The $50 voucher will be awarded to one person in the Upper Clutha and two people in the Whakatipu basin.
  • The additional prize for the most books read will be a district-wide prize.
  • If there is more than one contender for the top reader of the district, the winner will be chosen by a draw.
  • Winners for each draw will be contacted directly.
  • We will announce results on social media.

For those participating using the challenge card (from the library or printed at home):

  • The challenge cards must be returned to your local library by Wednesday the 1st of February 2023.
  • You can return the entry card via our returns shoot if the library is closed.
  • You can return the entry card by emailing a scanned copy to: childrens.librarian@qldc.govt.nz
  • You can enter more than once by submitting individual challenge cards.

For those participating via Beanstack:

  • You will automatically be entered into the draw as you log the correct number of books.
  • We will review your books and if you have read enough books to be entered into the draws multiple times, you will receive an entry for every five books read.
