Our Fee Policies:
Overdue notices are sent via email or posted once the item is 1 week overdue. We will send a reminder email 3 days before any item is due to help you keep track of your check-outs. Fines will cumulate until the item is returned or paid for. Once an item is 6 weeks overdue it is considered lost and you will be sent an invoice detailing replacement costs, handling fees and accumulated fines.
Renewal requests may be made in person, over the phone or by online by logging into 'MyAccount' via the Online Catalogue. If an item is on reserve for another library member, it cannot be renewed. You may only renew any item once. Any renewals to chargeable DVDs will incur additional standard rental fees.
For Queenstown Lakes adult memberships there is a $1 fee to hold (reserve) an item. This charge includes handling and postage to your local library.
Central Otago Adult and all Junior borrowers can place holds on items free of charge.
The first available copy in any library in the district will be sent. If the item is available in a fulltime branch, normal turnaround is around 3-‐4 days.
We will email or phone you to let you know that the item has arrived. Once notified, you have one week to collect the item.
If we do not have the resource you want, we can try to obtain or 'interloan' it from another national library. There is a charge of $7 to cover postage and some libraries also charge additional costs. If this is the case we will contact you to see if you want to proceed.
We ask that the charge is paid upfront and we will contact you once the item has arrived. Interloans may only be issued for three weeks and cannot be renewed.
Lost and Damaged Items
If you return an item that is in need of repair there will be a charge of $10 to cover mending costs. This includes replacement CD covers and DVD cases, the mending of books, and replacement of book covers. If the item is so damaged that it needs to be replaced you will be charged the cost of the replacement item plus a ten dollar processing charge. Lost items are also charged at the cost of replacement plus a ten dollar processing charge. Decisions on items over ten years old are at the discretion of the Library Manager.
Word processing and Internet access is available at all libraries, with the exception of Kingston, Glenorchy, Millers Flat, Omakau and Clyde.
